Dragon Quest XI: Echoes Of An Elusive Age – Fleshly Beasts With Dragonball Eyes (Jimpressions)


Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is pretty good. Square Enix have put out a pretty good JRPG that, shockingly, doesn’t need to reinvent itself with every sequel.

While I’m not quite as in love with it as some critics, I do enjoy it a lot. Like most DQ games, it’s simply a pleasant ride.

I’m really enjoying this game, for similar reasons as described in the video. It just makes me smile! To be fair I also have a longstanding love of traditional JRPG’s, and I love the Toriyama style, both art and spirit. It’s a pleasure to play a competent game that doesn’t exist in the usual grimdark world, yet still manages to tell a story I can give a fuck about. I’m about 30 hours in, having a real blast with it. Bags of charm and plenty of moments that put a big smile on my face.
