After seeing your content for sometime i have given you a $1 tho VAT adds .20 the cucks. I have done this for 2 major reason 1 being the great journalism and it is journalism! 2. There are some trolls (NAZIS) that say queer, degenerate, SJWs and liberal media art students! I wanted to upset the right wing trump wanking Tory barsteds! So thank god for Jim, Thank god for anyone that even likes his content and remember “we are the normal one”. This had no relevance to the video. but really thank god for free journalism and being yourself… Read more »

Okay I’m going to ask a question to everyone whining about console exclusives from first and second party devs here. If Netflix produces a new series do you immediately start complaining how anti consumer it is for that show not to appear on Hulu? Because that’s what we’re talking about here. Not the timed exclusives from third party devs that are super sketchy and shitty, but Sony and Nintendo shelling out resources to make a product for the sole purpose of putting it on their console than being yelled at for not also letting it go to other consoles too.… Read more »

I, for one, am enjoying this exclusive quite intensely. And this generation of exclusives for sure. Now if only Microsoft would stop axing anything with a hint of soul and originality in favour of buying everybody else’s successful IPs while microtransactioning the serviced shit out of their only few good ones, maybe this wouldn’t be such a sad issue for them. And fuck, being an old Rareware fan, I optimistically stayed with them for too long until it became obvious things weren’t heading in any positive direction. There’s always State of Decay 2, but have already checked out of their… Read more »

I bet Jim can’t wait to get Bloodborne Remastered and God of War Remastered for the PS5 because that’s the only “backward compatibility” Sony offers.

Counterpoint: The reason that I don’t like console exclusives is that I don’t want to have to buy a new console purely to play a good game that could probably be made to run on things I already own. It makes buying a console a gamble on future content rather than an actual open choice… or of course you could just buy all of the consoles like a good little consumerist drone! Praising “loss leaders” for their high budgets seems to jar slightly with criticism of the overbudgeted AAA games with all their add payments model (DLC, premium editions, microtansactions… Read more »

Whilst timed exclusives are utter bull, console exclusives can work extremely well. The Last of Us was a fresh of breath air into the zombie(ish) genre at a time where everything was zombies and provided a great narrative. It’s a damn shame that it seems that the only thing that can be 100% relied on to have a full narrative, loot that you actually get in game instead of buying or paying to get a randomised one and other things taht we used to have all the time may be console exclusives. If Dad of War was a multiplat game,… Read more »

Phil Spencer has been hinting that MS has big announcements planned for E3, and despite that being something all the companies say every year, I hope it’s true this time. The last boss of Xbox let the first party exclusives languish under his care, believing only Gears, Forza and Halo mattered. Under Spencer, Xbox has gone a long way to improve their service and hardware immensely, but sadly, not a lot of worthwhile exclusives. Admittedly, you can’t just tell developers to make a game and have one spit out in a year. Big exclusives take time. But even so, we’re… Read more »

Console exclusivity is a way to make a game more expensive without it actually being more expensive, because you have to buy the console.

The best situation for the consumer is to have good 3rd party games again.

It’s a special kind of weird to watch the game industry completely invert the quality spectrum. The best narratives and set pieces are coming from indies and mid-tier console exclusives, while the lowest effort experiences are coming from the biggest people throwing the most money at “mediocre, but somewhat fun” wallet humpers.

I’ve decided the Steam doesn’t exist as far as indies go, since the vast majority aren’t even game devs at this point. It’s better for my sanity that way.
