Podquisition Episode 10: Falling In A River On Drugs

On this week’s show, the team discusses falling into rivers, driving through nettles, and wallowing about in Wales, all while Laura desperately tries to simulate all the Euro trucks.

Also, we discuss Dying Light, Resident Evil‘s oft-maligned controls, and the time police dogs in Amsterdam thought an infected foot was a bunch of drugs.

Still do NOT get the hate for tank controls. Especially once RE. Added the quick turn, I personally can’t find a flaw in them. I’ve been playing RE games since the original PS version, and all the SH games, Dino Crisis, basically every major survival horror franchise, and never had a problem with the controls. If the game uses preset camera angle, what better control scheme is there?

Try listening to Sonata Arctica, Jim. it’s power metal with melodic and orchestral influences. I would recommend anything off the Unia or Reckoning night albums. They are absolutely fantastic, one of the best musical experiences out there. Dreamtale is right alongside them. I think you’ll really enjoy them, maybe try asking Gavin if he knows of them.

I admit, I really, really miss the Australian Gamer podcast for background listening. Matt + Yug were awesome, lol.

Well, actually ETS2 is one of the best games to play whilest listening to podcasts. It’s also one of the best games to play to wind down after a long day. I like those games where you can just mechanically do something to occupy some parts of your brain while using other parts of the exact same brain to do something else.

So if you wanted to skip the door transitions in the REmaster, you can if you have the PC version.

Check here, I’m sure there’s already a ton of new updates and mods.

On the topic of listening to podcasts while doing other stuff, I though you and your co-hosts might be interested to know the Podquisition has been extremely helpful in helping me work out. It keeps me distracted from the fact that getting sweaty and winded sucks, so I appreciate you, Gavin, and Laura, and your weekly offerings.

Thank God for all of you.

Speaking of Podcast games, I usually listen to this or Yahtzee’s Let’s Drown Out series whilst playing Hyrule Warriors, lately. Hell of a way to spend a quiet evening~

Power metal and symphonic metal are two entire sub-genres of metal defined by their melodic sounds and vocals fyi

Lol, as you guys were talking about how hard it is for you to play a videogame and listen to a podcast I was in the middle of a battle in mount and blade. I dunno about anyone else but certain games just allow me to get into a rhythm of actions and I kind of stop thinking about them, so podcasts and music and whatnot kind of fill the gap left there. Sometimes it’s just that the minute-to-minute play of a game isn’t particularly interesting, stuff like sim city or other management sims. I’m also the same kind of… Read more »

Loves me some Euro Truck Simulator 2. Driving during a rainy night is so relaxing. The only problem is I have difficulty driving on the right-hand side of the road, so I have to confine myself to the UK in a game called EURO Truck Simulator.

Would like to mention the gamecritics.com podcast, those guys always have interesting and fresh things to say about videogames and the industry. Always thought they align pretty well with the stuff Jim talks about. And they also like to rant about Ubisoft too.

Seriously you mentioned that Father Ted episode and failed to mention the rabbit who looked exactly like Harvey Keitel or Father Jack waking up and seeing all the rabbits and shouts “Hairy Japanese Bastards!”

On the Ubisoft issue I might be able to explain things better at least from a banking point of view. If it was bought using a stolen credit card there is a very good chance that Ubisoft didn’t get their money either as these transaction can be disputed by the real card owner. If its proven they have not been negligent in handling the card then the card provider can recover the funds. So in cases like this its only the thief (3rs party seller) that is not suffering a loss. This means that the people who had their game… Read more »

I love the sense of camaraderie you all have with each other. I can hear how much you all enjoy talking with each other, which in turn makes me enjoy hearing it. It’s fantastic.
You guys are the best Power Trio on any videogame podcast!

Getting some Bioshock: Infinite vibes from the river story. Jim you might be an alternate parallel universe version of Gavin that didn’t fall into the river. Better check if Laura isn’t missing a pinkie.

Yes new episode 😀

I often go to sleep listening to either Podquistion or FistShark Marketing.
And no, not as an insult. Like Dismal Jesters and Podtoid before it, your podcasts for some reason help me relax.

So keep up the good work 🙂
