Podquisition Episode 11: BDSM And King Henry VIII Tits

On this week’s butt-packed episode, the crew talk about how boobs were better in historical times, the ethics of BDSM, and the magical powers that give LGBTQ people an alleged advantage in e-sports.

We also talk about Darkest Dungeon, Life Is Strange, Dying Light, and Ubisoft doing something not-terrible for once. Yay!

The best conversation I’ve ever heard in a pub was ‘any black man who gets a tattoo is wasting his f*****g money.’

Actually when Gavin brought up the MW2 boycott it made me a bit bitter, If I recall that was the first game they dropped actual game servers and brought in peer to peer match making and the problem with that is you have no control over hackers and cheaters except what the developer deems necessary. So after 6-8 months the game is riddled with people cheating and it just becomes unenjoyable to play and it’s been the same with every CoD game since (excluding Black Op’s which gave us our servers back) and the cynic in me thinks that Activision… Read more »

Jim, if there ever is a HuniePop 2 made with male… dating targets. You NEED to voice one of them. I need to hear your moans while playing Bejeweled.

I thought there was implied sex in Thomas Was Alone between Chris the square and Laura the horizontal line, the narrator was quite suggestive with the bouncing part.

Of course it got a little weird when the rest of the blocks joined in a few levels later.

Also the most awkward scene probably goes to Ride to Hell Retribution – not only are the characters mashing together fully clothed, but one of the girls wants sex after the protagonist chases off her wood-be rapist. And she wants it right there, in the alley.

Silent Hill 2 is also my favorite game of all time but I can’t think of anything that I’d want to change about it. Even the bad stuff like the voice acting. In fact I have always argued that the bad voice acting in the original Silent Hill games added to the overall creepy atmosphere and made them feel more surreal. I guess it could use a fresh lick of paint when it comes to graphics but that’s all that I can really think of.

Actually Gav! Fun fact(s) for you about the Human Revolution sex snippets used in the opening montage and the trailer. Those brief sequences were in fact live action footage. That’s why it looked real.
And the actors involved were the voice actors of Adam and Megan, who are married in real life!

About Life is Strange: it’s odd how all these people keep saying that’s not how teenagers speak. I finished high school early 2014, and I heard “hella” a ridiculous amount. The other words are a bit much, but the hella thing just wasn’t as ridiculous as some people say. *shrugs* College is obviously entirely different, as no one says that.

I feel bloody stupid for asking this but… Where is Jim Sterling from? And where does he live? (Country-wise that is, not stalker)

I mean… I was sorta certain he’s american and lives there… but I also have a horrendous tin-ear for a LOT of accents and he keeps mentioning that he used to live in the UK…? I think…?

I don’t understand why people are purposefully misunderstanding the League of Legends tournament rules. It had nothing to do with real trans women, but the eggshells they have to walk on when a very skilled team of 5 guys undermining the competition by claiming they’re “trans-women” when they’re not, they’re just pretending. How is the arbiter of the tournament supposed to deal with that registration? How are the other teams supposed to react? The intention of the tournament is to encourage more women to compete in League of Legends. The rule is and looks terrible, because it was caused by… Read more »

There is the fact that you must have some sort of documentation to state that you are trans, such as a medical certificate (something you would need to get hormone replacement pills). They have (harsher) restrictions in phyiscal sports, e.g you must have have two years of replacement pills, due to the physical nature.

Exactly. It’s kind of annoying you guys couldn’t get the League of Legends controversy. Firstly, the tournament was an attempt at equality by getting more women to play LoL professionally by making a women only tournament. This might be misguided but the intention was good. Secondly, the LGBT restriction was to prevent men claiming they were trans and then using it to disrupt the tournament. Again, this is misguided but the intention was to try and get a fair crack for women. Instead everyone has decided to be lazy and just jump on the headline. I imagine the promoters will… Read more »

Enjoying these podcasts a lot, but as a self-professed sexual deviant I must ask; is it ever going to get as utterly bizarre and hilarious as the Dismal Jesters of old? Or do you have a different Podcast for more irreverent conversation?

If there isn’t 15 hours of sex in the Witcher 3 I will be disappointed. Maybe Witcher 4 will just be a dating/snogging/screwing simulator… Y’know going back to the roots of the original, with all the collecting Strumpet Cards and whatnot.

There are a few game soundtracks I like, but the only one I actually listen to outside of the game is Halo 2. All of the first three games have really nice music in them, plus it reminds me of when I first started gaming. Videogame soundtracks were part of the sound of my youth.

I think the Modern Warfare 2 boycott thing was about Modern Warfare 2 not having dedicated servers on the PC.

Honestly all I remember about that is the screenshot of the Modern Warfare 2 boycott group with nearly everyone playing Modern Warfare 2.
