That idiot who bitched to Jim in that email about him talking politics reminds me of all those dumbfucks whining about Total Biscuit talking politics on the Co Optional podcast(he made a statement in support of the victims of the Mosque massacre in Canada and spoke out against the Muslim ban), you had all these shitheads saying “i’ve been a fan of TB since 2005 but he has no business talking politics!” and other bullshit like that(despite TB giving people an option to skip over the 7 minutes of politics by clicking on a video annotation). To be fair, a good number of people only argue that they’d really want their video game talks be free of these political statements, because they want to have a poltiitcs free entertainment and I share that sentiment to a point. I won’t stop listening or skip a podcast because of Jim, or TB for that matter, taking a stance, mostly I’m in agreement anyway, but I do actually follow politics on my own. I really don’t need every single entertainer tell me their views on the matter, too. Especially not when I’m basically of the same opinion. I have… Read more »

Those people are actually pretty massive hypocrites, cause they were totally OK with TB talking politics during Gamergate cause in their minds he was on their side(despite TB repeatedly claiming that he did not pick sides), they’re only now getting all butthurt because TB has a political opinion they don’t agree with. Those idiots probably wouldn’t be nearly as upset if TB actually was a Trump supporter. TB apologized for his initial tweets after the election and he said himself that he barely lost any subscribers over it, so once again it’s a case of a vocal minority drastically overestimating… Read more »

I don’t understand hatred toward red and blue joycons configuration. I think red and blue switch looks pretty dope, finally something different from black / sliver electronic equipment, and I’m not even a Nintendo fun. Is this some kind of OCD thing? Red and blue looks so much better than just the same colors on botch sides.

I find that they clash with the rest of the switch tablet.

Don’t think it’s the config so much as the inability to have it customised as one wants (like in the jp nintendo store) which is being hated on.

Personally I thought Dying Light, the Dead Island games, Watch Dogs 2, Far Cry 3 and 4 and Mad Max all had interesting sidequests. I feel the same way about Zelda that Gavin and Laura feel about Killzone, it’s just one franchise that is definitely not for me even though I get why people are into it, so I couldn’t care less about Breath of the Wild(and weapon degradation that you can’t repair is bullshit). Not that the past weeks have been bad, it’s just I think with everyone involved being so busy it’s felt a little more like an obligation than it has. There was one episode of Fact Hunt which detailed a situation with a Gamespy review of a Nintendo game(Donkey Konga 2) which was inflated by the site editor to be higher then the reviewer originally scored it. So there is definitely a bias there.

This reminds me of the time one outlet gave Arkham City a 6/5 because of overzealous fans.

Totally agree with Jim regarding the Killzone story & universe. A completely squandered opportunity to go above the standard CoD formula… instead we got Rico (one of the worst characters in a game, ever) yelling fake racist slurs for three whole games.

First game was OK, but not as good as the others because that was when Sony was trying to make the franchise into a “Halo-killer”(they tried the same thing with Haze), once they stopped worrying about Halo and made the series do it’s own thing it improved considerably,

Taken from the TV Tropes page on the British press regarding the Daily Mail.

I had to complete my employer’s annual security training a few days ago. There was a section on breaches of various companies. One of which was Epic Games and possibly I missed things but I don’t recall that being widely reported on a lot of gaming sites. Lots of hits on Cyber Security sites however.

Down here in Canada we also have a “sun”, which is equally trash. I think they still have internet articles and local papers as well. I haven’t seen them in a while. It’s a shame too because…(warning I’m an old man) around 15-17 years ago they had decent coverage but then they tried to go in the American Fox News style direction and that’s when they collapsed.

Horizon, if you don’t already have it. They are hyping it up a lot, but it comes from a good place and is a little justified.

Depends on your mood. Uncharted is a great fun time. The first one can get a little long in the tooth with it’s shooty bits, but two and three are well paced. It’s a great option if you want to check your brain and play through some stellar set pieces. Bioshock’s going to be a more cerebral time. More suspenseful, and all three have some nice mind-fuck twists. All three are just different enough than the next to not feel super samey. First one is the slowest paced, most atmospheric, and doesn’t stick the landing. Two starts slow but picks… Read more »

I’m with Total Biscuit on Bioshock Infinite, Elizabeth really isn’t that interesting of a companion(especially when enemies act like she does not exist) and the story and setting really do not lend themselves all that well to being a first-person shooter. Infinite would’ve worked better as a Telltale-style game with actual choices and not bullshit fake ones like the game gives you.

Plus the ending has a ton of plotholes when you actually stop and think about it.

Polishfury5000
Guest
Polishfury5000

We will agree to disagree then. What you would call bullshit fake choices, I would call vital plot points because causality is something of an important pillar to the plot. Things happen because they have to regardless, sometimes.

Let’s cap it there and continue no further in plot discussion. The OP has yet to play the game, so entering spoiler territory would be an inconsiderate thing to do in their thread.

diamond
Guest
diamond

I don’t think they are done very well at all, I fail how the whole bird/cage thing is in any way a “vital plot point”, that could’ve easily been taken out of the game without impacting anything, same with Booker getting his hand injured.

Don’t talk down to me, i’ve no intention of spoiling the game, just be warned to anyone who hasn’t played Infinite yet, the ending is very much a love/hate thing(I fall very much into the latter category).

Polishfury5000
Guest
Polishfury5000

I wasn’t talking down, just making sure we were on same page.

Bird/cage is an experiment in causality, the same as the coin flip in the begining. Most of those interactions between Booker and those characters are experiments in just how much of an impact Booker is capable of making. Sometimes things happen because they have to, sometimes Booker can effect.

They’re trying to find the line between Booker and his effect.

You don’t like how they do it, I do. It’s cool either way.

diamond
Guest
diamond

“casuality”? That does not really make sense to me, personally I think the narrative would’ve gone better if those false choices had been removed.

Errant Signal, Matthew Matosis and Matt Lees all did really good videos on why Bioshock Infinite is an overrated game.

Polishfury5000
Guest
Polishfury5000

Causality.

It’s all about cause and effect, constants and variables. And Booker is one hell of a variable that’s particularly hard to plot. Hence all the experiments/choices. Sometimes things will just have to happen.

Already played and platinumed the series and made my mind. Not going to waste time on others’ videos at this point. Not going to change my opinion on it. But you have your differing opinion and you’ve found those that share it. It’s all cool.

diamond
Guest
diamond

I personally wish Infinite had been more like how it was originally advertised. I found the combat rather monotonous at times.

I think you should check out the videos anyways as they are really well done, and it’s good to challenge yourself by watching viewpoints you don’t necessarily agree with.

Polishfury5000
Guest
Polishfury5000

Eh, we’ll see on the videos. It’s just a matter of different tastes. I’ve heard plenty of arguments for not liking, most valid, but all in their own right to have.

I’d rather have a back and forth conversation with another person of differing opinion than just sit through a one-way medium. Doesn’t hold my attention, especially when I already get the gist.

At the end of the day, it’s all subjective. Opinions of strangers won’t move the needle when against personal experience.
