Podquisition Episode 133: There Will Be No Seaman Puns In This Week’s Title

Is Seaman coming back? We can only bloody hope. It’ll be more interesting than Far Cry 5 outrage.

Elsewhere, we talk about the lifespan of jokes, and we chat about Rime, Friday the 13th, and Tekken 7.

I’d love to see a Jimquisition on the overcomplicated showcase of anime-cliches and poor storytelling that is Kingdom Hearts.

Apart from the many graphs people have made to explain character relationships (why does everyone have so many doppelgangers!?!), theres one thing that neatly illustrates the head-scratching Kingdom hearts lore to me:

In Kingdom Hearts, people are made up of Heart, Body, and Soul

Heartless are beings manifested from the darkness in peoples hearts. Nobodies are the animated, leftover bodies from those who become heartless.

So, in other words, Heartless are ALL heart, and have no bodies. Nobodies are ALL body and have no hearts.

Who needs puns? Reality is stranger than fiction. For a while, I worked at SIEMENS in the state of Florida, which has a conspicuous shape.

Jim, I love you. And the podqusition is the ONLY podcast I listen too. But there’s no volume control on it and I really dislike that.

I like when Gav talks music. I always appreciate how varied his tastes are. Anyone who can talk about his own genres and then discuss the plus and negatives of pop is a musician to the core.

Thank God for Gav and his music breaks m/

The whole thing about FC5 is it’s actually based on “Militiamen” who are American citizens who actually engage in armed protests. There was a recent standoff in Oregon where a group of armed men actually held up Malheur National Park for about a month.

The idea of Americans being terrorists doesn’t sit well for your average blue-collar hick who clings to the idea of “patriotism” because there is nothing else in the middle of nowhere. Never mind the fact that the KKK was a terrorist organization supported by it’s citizens for a century.

I wasn’t aware I was just one of Laura’s fake gaymer fan chronies. I guess I’ll stop making gay Mass Effect videos, delete my scripts for reviews on strange homoeroctic games and start playing CoD while watching American football with a beer in my hand.

Dude, if your neighbour’s doing work in the garden at such an unsociable hour, you should probably check and make sure they’re not just trying to hide a dead body.

I share Jim’s frustration with the matchmaking and lack of a tutorial in Friday the 13th….but I have to say my experience in game has been largely different. I haven’t experienced a ton of bugs to the point where my experience is marred by it. I didn’t back it and went in blind and I’ve been having a blast with it.

I think it needs some fixes fast though, before the player base leaves.

The moral outrages…It’s an interesting conversation. I’m 31 now. I remember the moral panics of the 90’s and early 2000’s as well and how silly they were. Especially when it came to the music industry. I agree that there is a difference between pervious ones and the current crop comping up. Today it’s a lot less focused and seems like everyone (regardless of what nut job end of the scale they are on, left or right) is offended by something somewhere and yells about it on the internet. I think that this is because counter cultural is dead. In the… Read more »

Anybody see the new Ubisoft logo? I think it looks like a butthole, and I expect Jim to make good use of this observation

Is there really people bitching about Farcry 5? The first Farcry that looks interesting to me in years, and that’s the one people say it’s a betrayal or whatever the fuck?

Jim is right about Bioshock. For all the shit they throw about it, the political right in this country has gotten extremely sensitive and fragile about this in a way that the liberal arts college students they like to attack can only dream of. When you can get offended by the thought ‘hey, extremist, separatist, anti-American terrorists are the bad guys’ and interpret that as an attack on your side or freak out about a game with a message as easy as ‘racism is bad and so was the holocaust’ like Deus Ex Mankind Divided, you are the problem, not… Read more »

Disappointing to see that Friday the 13th is shit, (at least the multiplayer is), maybe the single player will at least hopefully be decent when that comes out. I was face-palming at some of the comments in your video for that game, it was just ridiculous how people were blaming Jim instead of the game, when it was blatantly obvious what a technical mess that game is. I’m curious as to what jokes Laura was personally offended by in 22 Jump Street, looking back nothing really sticks out as particularly mean spirited or anything like that. I personally don’t really… Read more »

Isn’t there already a multi-stream function on Twitch? I know I’ve seen links in streamer chats for it.

While MS building multistreaming into their service is indeed a nice thing, the reality is there’s already multiple website that can do this for Twitch clients very easily, and all they’d need to do is pick one, buy it, and build a quick linking mechanism into Twitch’s UI. So good on MS for recognizing the popularity of the idea, but it’s too little, too late. As far as Farcry 5 is concerned (and has been observed by others before me), the chest-beating and wringing of hands by certain regions of the US has already proven to be more entertaining than… Read more »

I think “Dairy Hipsters, get out!” would have been a more interesting title. But I’m weird.

Jim you should do an episode on Take-Twos CEO Strauss Zelnick saying his company is ‘Under-Monetizing its Users’ and that there is more money to get from their users in microtransactions, or “recurrent consumer spending” as he calls it.

Never heard of Seaman till now. Apparently it was popular on Dreamcast, but I had the console and never once was made aware of the game’s existence. Was more preoccupied with trying to find a copy of Echo the Dolphin 3D. With Rime, it allegedly had a quite troubled development, though the details for me are unkown currently. Looks nice enough. Edit: a bit of a shameless copy paste from Wikipedia… “The game was offered to Microsoft as an exclusive Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) title and possible Windows 8 game; initially Microsoft greenlit the game, but the design was later… Read more »

Will listen in just a minute, just wanted to comment how peaceful this comment section is right now.

I have no hopes it will be this peaceful by either tonight or tomorrow, between Far Cry 5 and F13 being on the topic list and “other” reasons.

Not had a chance to listen yet. I’m curious if there will be a review for Rime coming on either Jimquisition or LPVG
