Who keeps leaving their messenger notification sound on and so close to the microphone during recording here? I always listen to these on my phone and on multiple occasions it made me think I had more friends than I actually have. *Le sigh*

I think it’s a bit unreasonable that Jim was mad at Steam for the review thing. Sure, they did almost no work at all, but at least they did something. Even if you think it won’t do any good, I really can’t see how it could hurt. At worst, it’s practically no effort for no result and a continuing trend of Steam choosing algorithm over human oversight. But I think at the end of the day, they didn’t have to do a single thing. Developers sometimes get paid less because of metacritic score and metabomb is a thing, yet after… Read more »

I dunno, I still don’t think “crossplay = more sales of a game overall = more copies on PS4 sold” balances out “giving people a reason to not buy a PS4, thus not buy any other games for it”. And let’s be honest, any talk of fostering a game’s community and playerbase is going to fall on deaf ears unless it’s a first-party game or PS4-exclusive. They’ll only care about a 3rd party’s sales insofar as those sales that are on PS4. Also I’m sorry to say but you guys are getting a little bit on the nose with the… Read more »

The whole Marvl VS Capcom thing is because Disney doesn’t want to give out free advertising for Fox, since Fox owns the movie rights to the Xmen and Fantastic 4, and Fox refuses to give them up. I don’t follow the comics but I heard that they even canceled the Fantastic 4 comics and told artists to not draw non MC Cinimatic Universe characters at conventions. They want people to forget those characters area thing so Fox will eventually sell the rights and they can relaunch everything. So you know standard business dicking around other business and the consumers getting… Read more »

Yeah I went mucking through the comments of “New Colossus” and…eesh it’s exactly the kind of post Taco Bell cesspit you’d expect once you get past the semi funny comments about the game being on Switch. The scene of a black man doing the sex with a German lady was met with the comment “This is why Nazis need to keep fighting.” Or the whole concept being labeled by one as “Lefty ISIS simulator.” Obviously once “white genocide” was mentioned I jumped off that diarrhea ship and never looked back. Jesus fuck what happened to this planet?

I think the ps4 would double it’s UK sales if they allowed cross platform. If it had been there a couple of years ago I never would have brought an Xbox one – PS4 just looks better but all my mates were already on Xbox so it was a straight choice of Billy no mates on PS4 or play Xbox with everyone I knew. Would have been no question with cross platform.

Great to hear Front Mission mentioned. I’ve said for years that I want another proper game. Especially after XCOM got revived and proved so successful. I mean we had a mediocre third-person shooter (weirdly, the Japan-only online one notwithstanding, the only Front Mission to be released on PC, and even that was a while ago now – that was, crap, 2010), but marketed properly, I think Front Mission returning to its turn-based tactics roots, a kind of mecha anime XCOM, could work really well.

Jim, you’re clearly having trouble focusing at the start of the show this week. I think you have too many distractions, too much going on and too much on your mind. Find something on your life to give up. Maybe…I don’t know, a possession you have that is weighing on you that you’re never using. Something you don’t enjoy and don’t have any need of, and find someone to give it to. A friend, or maybe a podcast co host who might need it and enjoy it. A VR headset maybe! Yeah, someone you could give your VR to. If… Read more »

Absolutely agree with Jim & Gav that the post-265 grind in Destiny invalidates the better aspects of the game. I am a big fan of the “adventures” and the regular strikes, but, like the gang said, it becomes pointless to do them in the endgame. It’s a real shame, because it makes the fatigue for the overall experience kick in significantly quicker. The nightfalls are nice because they give people a sense of skill progression. My first go at every one of them is a miserable failure. By the third attempt, my team has either beaten it or at least… Read more »

Agree that Sony is being incredibly stupid, this stupid attitude towards cross-play will bite them in the ass.
