Hi everybody! long time viewer/listener, first time poster. I was a Tenchu fan back in the PS2 days. Please forgive my sperg: here’s everything you need to know to “get it”: Plot is basically Ninjas vs Evil Dead. You start out doing “justice for hire” missions, which gradually phase into feudal political wars, and then into proper Evil Dead stuff ( the big bad is always a lord using black magic to gain power). Gameplay is MGS-style 3rd person stealth mechanics, but with Batman-like vertical mobility and ambush takedowns. Progression is a branching mission map structure. Performance on each mission… Read more »

I loved the entirety of that rant Jim had about video games being taken “seriously.” I’ll admit that I’m one of those people who wants video games to be seen as more than murder simulators and shit for kids but…at the end of the day why should I? Games are still here. They haven’t gone anywhere for nearly 30 years even after the entire market crashed. At the end of the day the only kind of people who should take it seriously are the ones who play them and the ones who make them. What the public at large thinks… Read more »

Geoff Keighley always looks like he just came second in a “World’s Saddest Looking Man” contest, so it’s good to see him with a different expression on his face, even if it is barely-suppressed rage.

I am sad you talked about Bayonetta getting rereleased yet didn’t even once segue to mentioning that the HD remaster of another Hideki Kamiya game came out the day before you recorded. For shame.

Discovered Medievil as an adult. Could not get past the bat demon on a raft thing.

From Software didn’t originate Tenchu. It just ended up with it. Maybe only as a small publisher.

I’m starting to think if Del Toro and Kojima’s weirdness keep feeding off of each other like this they’re going to end up merging into the Junji Ito of video games.

That would end up with Silent Hill looking like an episode of Teletubbies.

If Death Stranding actually turns out to be a fucking video game I’ll be amazed.

It was promised that the DLC dungeon would be more traditional, with a heavy focus on story within it. Based on the interviews and Laura, it isn’t anything like that. Instead its another Divine Beast and a lot of disjointed cutscenes just like the main game. I didn’t even mention the costumes which couldn’t possibly exist since the people associated with them never existed. I have a lot of unresolved anger with that game, and I think I should finish it but I just can’t without the very real possibility of smashing my WiiU Pro Controller. I don’t know if… Read more »

I never knew the original Medievil, but when I bought a PSP many many years ago, Medievil: Resurrection was the came that came with it. It was a very long time ago but I from what I remember of it, it was quite good. It has such a charming atmosphere.

RE: “What Were They Thinking”: Patreon was thinking like a business. They don’t see the world the same as either creators or patrons. I still hate it, but I still feel it was a justified evil just knowing EVERYTHING I do about eCommerce and the economics of the Internet. EDIT: I was typing this leading up to the Zelda chat. Fuck Nintendo, who have just given up on real Zelda and are just tossing around this desiccated corpse like we don’t realize they are fooling us. Motorcycles. Major story content focused on bananas. A fucking useless trident. More of the… Read more »

I found that the big Windows 10 update over the weekend managed to break a lot of Unity games. After the update I found that Torment, Pillars of Eternity, Tyranny & Before The Storm all stopped working due to what appear to be resolution issues. While I’ve managed to fix three of them Before the Storm is still fucked.

Dammit, I want to see Siegfried-Laura now. Soulcalibur is the one fighting series I get proper excited for, looking forward to making a Nightmare-based greatsword fighter in the character creator.
