Podquisition Episode 164: Down To Clop

There’s too much sex for us to do, and clopping’s just the start of it.

Elsewhere, Laura’s discovery of Battle Chef Brigade is energetic, Gav goes back to Nier, and Jim reminds us of the virtues of Rayman Legends.

Oh and we had no idea what that Switch Direct was about!

Oh, sleep paralysis! The first time I saw the little messengers looming over the half-sedated hunter in Bloodborne I had to get up and flail around because I’ve SEEN those little shits in the waking-dreaming state. But I like them a lot more than the ENTITY OF MALEVOLENCE my brain decided was there when I was havin’ night terrors. (It wasn’t even doing anything except lurking, but somehow that was worse than it actually doing something–I was lying there scared of what it might possibly do!)

Oh and “Every time you think you have the answers, Nintendo changes the question” is about the most accurate quote I’ve ever heard describing them. It should to be a slogan or catchphrase they embrace 😉

Ahh, Zopiclone…such sweet memories of psychiatric ward. Body builds up a tolerance fast for it though. Wasn’t long before 1 pill turned to 2 to sleep properly. Then 3 to 4. Then coming off them leaves your body sort of forgetting how to sleep naturally for a bit. Fun times. But they really did give a good feeling sleep at first. Deep rest, without any problems with drowsiness from waking. Shit…uhhm, anyway… Yeah, couple of friends I know experience sleep paralysis too. Thing is the brain is in hyper sensitive emotion mode when in a dreamy sleep-based state, any simple… Read more »

@Chibi-Robo on fire: Am I the only one who played “Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash”? It’s not a great game, but I seem to recall a power-up that caught Robo on fire for various environmental gimmicks. Seriously, I would not be surprised if no one had played it.

To take the food critic analogy, I don’t think it’s professional to eat a few spoonful of the soup served as appetizer and then leave and review the entire multi course meal based on that. Likewise, I tune out whenever someone enters the discussion saying they’ve played the first half hour for Automata and then stopped. It’s certainly their prerogative to hold that opinion and being stingy with their time but by the same token, their opinion has so little foundation it doesn’t add anything worthwhile, even when presented without the sneering self-importance it usually is.

Gav complaining about the desert music made me go “yeah, I need to listen to Memories of Sand again”, pause the podcast and listen to some melodic wailing.
Thank you, Gavin <3

I was put off by the whole multiple playthroughs thing as well, and I didn’t care for the original Nier, but ultimately I did give Automata a chance and i’m very glad I did.

I listen to the desert on purpose. The song is called “Memories of Dust” and its brilliant. I don’t know what happened in the Direct though. You got me there.

I didn’t finish the podcast. I hope I don’t have other thoughts.

Jim’s pronunciation is how it is pronounced in game. But this only occurs once having got to that point before the Podcast.
