PSA: The Charnel House Trilogy Launches Today, Hear Me Do Voices In It!

I won’t be reviewing Owl Cave Games’ horror-adventure game, The Charnel House Trilogy for one simple reason – I’m in it. Continuing the critically acclaimed (Destructoid said I was awesome!) work I began in Jazzpunk, my latest voice role has me getting creepy as Robert Crowe in Ashton Raze’s extended prequel/sequel to Sepulchre.

The game launches today on Steam. I’ve played it, and I enjoyed it, but don’t take that as an official recommendation because I am incredibly biased and that just wouldn’t be right. I do sincerely believe, however, that if you’re a point n’ click fan who loves a little mystery and a lot of fucked up ideas, then Charnel will probably tug your winkle in all the right ways.

Today will be spent pacing frantically, hoping people like what we pulled together. Early reviews are pretty damn positive, so that’s nice. Also, keep an eye on my Twitter today – I have a small handful of codes to give away later.

Check out the launch trailer below.

Just finished it. Splendid job Sir, I always enjoy when your acting chops get called upon and I hope there will be more of similar assignments in your future. I hope there will be a follow-up to this game, it feels like there’s a bigger universe involved that we barely glanced at.

I was fast enough to grab one of those codes you gave away on twitter – thanks again, Jim. Although point and click is not really my thing (i was playing the original sam & max and monkey island 3 when they came out though) I enjoyed this game. Soundtrack and voice actors are good and I like horror-esque stories. I would say its not a timewaster – unsure though how much cash I would have been willing to give, if i had to pay for it.

Bought, played, loved. A Bit short, but does a good job telling its story without unnecessary padding. Creepy, but in more of an existential, thought provoking way than a dark shock value way.

And you’re a creepier creepy guy than Robin Williams played in 1 Hour Photo

I enjoyed Sepulchre if it’s its following. I can’t seem to find a non steam version, is there one? (don’t use steam sorry)

Jim, just played and really enjoyed it. Will there be more episodes since it sort of ends on a cliffhanger? And when, wheeeen?

Always think Jim would make a brilliant sarcastic tutorial character

For those of use who might not be able to play it for ourselves, or might not want to sit through a walkthrough, will we see an example of your glorious voice acting talents? Maybe a little clip? 🙂

That’s an odd way of pronouncing the word “Sepulchre” in that trailer. Was that done on purpose, or a mistake?

Hey, Jim

I just did a Let’s Play of the game. Did mention your name a couple of times in the Let’s Play LOL. I’ll be honest I thought your voice didn’t fully fit with the character, but that’s just me. Anyway thought the game was bizarre and interesting, it was an enjoyable 2 hours. Anyway if you ever check out my Let’s Play it would be great to hear your opinion.

Just finished it and really enjoyed it. Was gripped from beginning to end and had to finish it in one sitting. Certainly looking forward to any future project. Good work as always Jim. I hope you do more voice over roles in the future you were really good in it. Do you have anything else lined up?

Possibly one of my first purchases when I finally get myself a new computer. This one is basically a toaster.

Congratulations on your growing voice acting career! From what I’ve seen so far, you do great. I’m excited to see what other games you might show up in in the future!

Yeah, can’t review it but that doesn’t mean you can’t do a let’s play on it. Not much different from a DVD commentary on a movie really.
