I think it’s more that the games we WANT to be single player aren’t anymore. It’s the death of the ‘triple a’ single player that we’re mourning. Indie games have had some pretty good single player games, but they’re not Star Wars.

Maybe that Angry Bird’s guy was right but not in the way he was thinking. Maybe console games, as we know them, are dying; being replaced by mobile games with “AAA” budgets. What a sickening thought.
