A shame that a lot of people didn’t cover the PC gaming show because of last years one not being so good . The only other future game that is interesting me outside the PC gaming show event is Injustice 2.

Really don’t like that idea of Sony forcing VR onto consumers to make it successful that you two are suggesting.

I don’t want VR to play games, it gives me eye strain, headaches and I like to lie down on the couch and play games the way I want to. I don’t mind others enjoying it or it being an optional feature, just not a forced necessary mode.

I don’t want games to become Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor or force to me to use a piece of expensive hardware just so I can enjoy the next Resident Evil or Batman game.

When the only things that really interest you are the next South Park game and Persona 5 (and maybe Battlefield 1) you know something is really wrong.. I’ve recently got into board gaming with others and it’s in some ways more fun than video gaming. I still love my Witcher 3’s, Fallout 4’s, Pillar’s of Eternity etc but I dunno..

Scalebound looks a lot like Drakengard 3 in terms of having a dragon companion and a rather sexy main character <3

“Hey, why don’t we make ‘The Last of Us’?”
“Because somebody already did that and it was super popular.”
“But what if we did it with this really rote voiceover, like we watched that Division trailer and took apocalypse Ciff Notes?”
“Um…”
“And then added zombies from World War Z because everyone loves those.”
“So it’s going to be The Last of Us, but… not quite as good?”
“Yep.”
“… do you have Troy Baker’s number?”

Okay, no one’s asking the most important question: who did that cover of “Livin La Vida Loca?”

I personally felt this was a pretty weak E3, overall. I enjoyed listening to the individual Jimpressions more than I did watching the press conferences. Very few surprises, everything felt very “safe”, too few games coming out this year – hell, most of Sony’s stuff was just listed as “in development” in the after-stream credits. Even Nintendo’s Treehouse was pretty lackluster – really spending the majority of their time talking up the new Pokemon and the Zelda game that may (or may not) show up sometime next year. E3 came and went and we still have no earthly fucking clue… Read more »

No Nintendo?

I mean, I know they didn’t technically do a press conference there but c’mon NEW ZELDA GUYZ!

Oh right, the whole copyright takedown crap.

I kind-of wish you both had stuck around for Square-Enix Part 1 or the Treehouse. DQ Builders looks interesting, if for no other reason than making Minecraft interesting again (if you were burnt out like me). But they are pulling an Activision with XV, locking a full(ish) 2D brawler game tied directly to the main release behind national retailer pre-orders. Star Ocean segment was good but could have been better. Over an hour devoted to racing games. They also tossed Deep Silver a bone and gave them a full section of the stream for Agents. As for Nintendo: Breath of… Read more »

EA: “To really do justice to the French army in multiplayer and, once again,
to show a side that we’re not used to seeing, we have chosen to
dedicate an entire premium expansion with special treatment after the
launch of the game.”

Anybody else double take at this line?

Translation: “To really do justice to the French army, we’ll be pulling this content out of this game and make you pay for it after buying the game so we could make a quick buck.”

I got an overall “meh” feeling from E3. I watched the trailer for ME: Andromeda, the highlights from Xbox, and the entire Sony presentation. ME: Andromeda made me a little giddy, but my hype is long gone. Xbox had some cool highlights; the custom controllers (which you should check out just to screw around with the options), news on Project Scorpio (despite the recent reveal that it will only bump up resolution pretty much), and some of the games like Forza Horizon 3. Sony just made me feel a range of “meh” to “wtf?” Kojima’s trailer just looked ridiculous, but… Read more »

I’m noticing a pattern with all these “E3 discussions/Podcasts”

A type of game the podcaster likes: *In depth discussion*

A type of game the podcaster personally doesn’t like: “Who cares? Why is this even here? *Overly long raspberry*”

The talk about Madden e-sports made me think of how hilarious it would be if someone started a Fantasy Madden E-Sports Football league.

I’m so exited to play windows 10 game with the great quality of Quantum Break. And if GFWL taugh me anything, is that Microsoft takes care of it’s community and is able to adapt to change along with their absolute priority of giving us pc gamers fine tuned games. Now where is my box of Joy, don’t want to be a downer.

Thanks for this Jim, really enjoyed watching your YouTube videos on this. I was disappointed that EA didn’t focus more on Mass Effect, EA really needs to diversify the types of games they make and put more attention on their RPGs, it can’t all be sports. That being said, I’m not a fan of FIFA at all and that new story mode looked really interesting, I might even pick up my first football game since Italia 90. As usual Aisha Tyler is what saved the Ubisoft from just being one dull looking open world game after another. (though Watchdogs 2… Read more »

I feel like the show this year was a pretty total failure, due to
1) There were no groundbreaking announcements, and
2) Everything even remotely exciting was leaked (or even intentionally announced) way beforehand.

Is the hype finally dead? God I hope so.

Having trouble deciding whether EA or Ubisoft were weaker. EA was nothing but sports and war and was really fucking dull. but with the sports stuff, FIFA especially they’ve tried to do something new with it. Ubisoft was boring as well, just more dull looking open world games but it did have the For Honour guy so it’s a close one.
