Here is more Battlefield for you. It’s Battlefield V, and it’s perfectly fine. It’s fine. It’s absolutely totally fine. If you want another Battlefield, this is another Battlefield for you!
Like a Star Wars Holiday Special, Battlefront II has left us all confused and feeling exploited.
The backlash was so huge, EA had to temporarily retreat and take the microtransactions out of the game. A disastrous Reddit AMA, worried investors, prying regulators, and mainstream news headlines forced them to pull back and find a more palatable way to deploy its glorified gambling.
However, that wasn’t before it received one of the biggest Metabombings in history. Oh yes, let’s get stuck in!
It should come as no surprise that Star Wars Battlefront is the latest game to be METABOMBED by angry user reviewers. While I enjoyed the game quite a bit, the changes made to the Battlefront formula combined with Electronic Arts’ unfortunate DLC model was a guaranteed recipe for boiled piss.
The anger was brewed to perfection before the game was even out, and it didn’t take long for Metacritic’s user reviews to reflect it. This is where I’d say a Star Wars quote to sum up the intro in a cute way, but I can’t think of anything.
I watched the Star Wars Battlefront trailer like everybody else, and my not-so-excited reaction to it made me realize just how jaded and skeptical I’ve truly become. I mean, I’ve always known that, but this made me face up to it.
It’s not a nice way to be, and I’d love to hop on the hype train time and again. Will I accept any responsibility for being such a Doubting Thomas though? HELL NO!
