The problem with piracy is the measures employed to combat it showcase utter contempt for the paying customers.

This is something Ubisoft once directly acknowledged, before tanking the performance of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey with a double layer of DRM.

Denuvo, meanwhile, is embraced by the game industry despite a laundry list of problems and failures. Let’s look at why Denuvo is rubbish.

DRM definitely causes lost sales, rather than preventing them.

I don’t buy anything from Ubisoft, like at all, even though I would if there was no DRM.
‘Cuz like, apparently some of the Assassin’s Creeds were okay, and I never got to find out what happened to the apple/thinghy.

I can confirm that Denuvo is a huge resource hog. I couldn’t play Assassins Creed Origins full retail version because my FX8120 was below specs and even with a GTX970 I couldn’t get a steady fps because my CPU kept hitting 100% and I was dropping tons of frames. Then the pirated version came out, I can get 45 fps steady with zero frame dropping and not once does my CPU max out. I’m convinced the makers of Denuvo held a massive party, with coke and hookers, with as many publisher executives as would cone. And now they’re blackmailing them all with the pictures. Seriously, why do they all defend such a worthless product. A security system famous for how quickly it can be broken.
