Ugh, saw Warcraft in the cinema, will NOT be sitting through that again, but looking forward to hearing your take – particularly regarding the performance of Dominic Cooper, whose acting is best described as “full Kingsley”.

that whole “lebeau pronounces his name as foo-koh” bit sounded so weird that I just had to google this… and imdb has the answer: the dude’s birth name is michel claude foucault, with “roman lebeau” being his stage/screen name. guess amazon didn’t bother to point out that distinction and just went with “pronounces his name foo-koh/foucault”.

Great podcast guys. Thanks 🙂 However! Jim, fuck the internet. I want the trumpet back and that’s all the reason you need. Yes, it’s annoying …. but I like it

Brace yourselves, comments are coming…

Personally I wish you’d go back to the trumpets doing a vague impression of the 20th Century Fox intro. It’s appropriately movie boy. The baseball thing, eh not huge into.

Ordinarily I find the “oh we’re so liberal! Aren’t we degenerates?” gags meant to bait the sort of people who froth at the mouth when anything even slightly liberal is mentioned gags annoying*, but I’ve really got to compliment Conrad on the “like all privileged people she see’s him as a faceless monster” bit, because fuck me that’s good. Like many of your best bits, it helped me put my finger on something that’s bugged me for awhile in horror movies, where homeless people are all crazy madmen connected to whatever occult bullshit is going on at the time. This… Read more »

Having “3D” in the title pretty much guarantees that a film is going to be terrible.

Haven’t had the opportunity to listen yet (thanks to my headphones going missing), but I … loved? … this movie. It was so bad, but I had such a good time that even getting out of the theater and finding that my thirty-minute walk home was going to happen in a rainstorm couldn’t ruin my mood.

Kit Harrington’s from London, he just does a northern accent in Game of Thrones. Sean Bean: The Stark family in Game of Thrones were meant to have more traditional English accents but because Sean Bean didn’t give a fuck it was decided that they’d have northern accents instead.

I SOO wanted this movie to be good! I mean fuck me, Sean Bean and his bitchy daughter in Silent Hill being chased by a Borg queen with a saw blade for a face. It should be amazing!

Also pretty sure this is the only movie that doesn’t kill Sean Bean and yet he still dies…

Good God this movie was terrible. I hope Uwe Boll was taking notes, because this film gives his usual fare a run for their money. Like, I’ve played about 30 minutes of Silent Hill: 0rigins (so I actually got the reference at the end) and saw the original film, but I can guarantee that I could make a better Silent Hill film than this. The horror too was just so stupidly in-your-face that it didn’t even work. Just… holy shit, this film was awful.

I haven’t listened yet, but when I watched this I could SEE the influence Silent Hill had on the movie. The mannequin spider, despite being unique to the movie, really felt like it could have a place in the foggy streets. The good moments are REALLY GOOD, but… yeah. Shame they ignored the source (and first movie to an extent) in favor of bastardizing the SH3 story to continue the first movie’s narrative. And making it a love story. And not making the main character deal with the very real, very tragic, and truly emotional story moment which catalyzed SH3.… Read more »
