The Spin-off Doctors: Street Fighter – The Movie

Raul Julia’s amazing performance, Vega’s fabulous features, the war crimes of Van Damme, and also Kylie Minogue for some reason.

These things and more combine, with some help from DNA MUTAGEN, to make an incredible comedy movie that’s just like Rush Hour.

Street Fighter: The Movie is a prequel narrative based entirely around clothes. It’s brilliant.

Soundcloud started right after an episode of Podquisition where Jim spoke about Amadeus. All I could think of when I was hearing the intro was Jim in a candy pink powdered wig playing a piano. So Jim can you make that happen?

Do you guys have a list of films you’ll cover already set out or do you agree on a new one each week?

We seem to be figuring out what the next film will be immediately prior to recording the episodes.

I have always loved this film and understand that I just need to switch off and enjoy dumb fun for 2 hours. 10/10 on IMDB!

My problem is that once Zangief turns good at the end of the movie, who will crush men’s heads like sparrows egg between thighs?

This movie was hilarious, I loved it. Hitman (2007) next though? I haven’t seen it, but I’m not looking forward to this… It can’t be more boring than Doom though, right…?

Did you mean Fei Long? I’m into Street Fighter and I have NO IDEA who this Li Feng person you’re talking about is.

It’s worth viewing for Raul Julia alone. He gives the ultimate OTT villain performance. He did the movie because his kids loved playing the game. And he really gave it his all.

Some great actors who dabble in schlock can easily slip into “standby” mode. But then there are actors, like Peter Cushing and Raul Julia, who always brought their best to whatever they were doing.

I’ve listened to all of the Spin-Off Doctor podcasts and this was, without any doubt, the best so far. This is the first one where both hosts seemed equally engaged by the material (“House Of The Dead” came close but there were long stretches of that particular podcast where Conrad was recapping plot and Jim didn’t really have anything to say), and it gave me quite a few smiles as I was listening on my way to work. Well done to both, and I hope future SOD podcasts can live up to this one. I guess it depends a lot… Read more »

Is your mispronunciation of “Minogue” as min-o-gu intentional? The “ogue” is pronounced exactly like as in “rogue”, so min-oog. I’m guessing it was a joke?
Anyway, pretty good episode, but I disagree Street Fighter is a comedy like Rush Hour. It’s just a really, really bad action movie, with nigh on zero comedic value. I cringed just about the entire time. Admittedly I haven’t seen it in about 15 years and still have no intention of doing so, despite your enthusiasm.

Movie Boys! I know I watched this when I was younger, although basically none of it sounds familiar at this late date.

Movie Boys!

I got this on Bluray and tried to watch it a couple of months ago, but couldn’t make it past 15 or 20 minutes. It was bad. Not even funny bad, just bad. I remember enjoying it when I was younger, despite its being a terrible representation of a great franchise.

This was a really fun episode. I think that the, “groove.” has been found. Lots of great comedy. I was laughing. It made my day, actually. It brought up my spirits.

Also, I can’t wait until, “Double Dragon!” That one is delicious.

Oh! and is “Final Fantasy: The Spirits Wiithin” on the table in the near or distant future?

I enjoy Jim’s commitment to bringing it up every episode and Conrad’s chagrin at how lazy and idiotic a name it would be yet increasingly identifying with it.

This movie failed in representing the core material, because there wasn’t a version for every character with their own plot.
