The impact of the film was such that there was that scene in the later years of Stargate SG-1 where Vala was dressed up as Lara Croft and said “this is what archaeologists look like – I did research!” and was told “No, that’s what American movie producers think archaeologists look like.” I imagine it must have come as some surprise to Toby Gard that he was suddenly American, and a movie producer. Incidentally, Gard left Core Design after Tomb Raider II because he was unhappy with the way Lara was being marketed as a sexualised character, and he didn’t… Read more »

The real news here is the (albeit brief) return of Texts From Trent.

So glad I spent $12 on Xbox Video to buy it XD

Anyway, as a Tomb Raider fan I think it’s okay for what it is. I am interesting of why they never made a third to make a trilogy of sorts, it seems the second one did well enough.

I’ll be honest, I stopped paying close attention to this movie near the end… it was so boring and inane. That mainly comes down to the shitty script I think (maybe I would have cared about a Jolie-Craig romance if they had actually written that romance into the film), but this movie is just disappointing. Looking forward to listening to the episode. 🙂

Man I haven’t seen this film in a long time, but this has reminded me to just not bother. Love the Movie-Boys.

When appealing to the horny desires of the typical male herd, no expenses are spared. When tits and ass are involved, no expenses are spared. *Sigh*

While the movies were serviceable at best, this really was Angelina Jolie in prime babe form. She’s still pretty now, dont get me wrong. But damn if those movie posters for both flicks werent some of my most valued, prized possessions as an early teenager haha.

This is a really weird film. It is ridiculous with little to no plot, but it clearly had a big enough budget to afford some proper actors.

You know, what with you lot going after video game inspire movies I do hope you’ll eventually do Crank and Hardcore Henry since those are basically video games in movie form. Also, I would love if you two reviewed video game based porn. That sounds like a right larf to me, but then my sense of humor is broken. Finally, I actually want to fank you funny fuckers for the last episode, which got me to give the Dead Rising games another go. Previously I’d always abandoned them without giving them a fair shake, largely due to bad timing. All… Read more »

Jim, I had a dream last night where you and me went to a brothel together! We were walking along the streets somewhere when we happened to pass by a brothel. I was too nervous to go in, but you calmly laughed and gave me a reassuring pat on the shoulder then you said you’d go in with me. I said “okay, i’ll go in if you do.” We proceeded to go in and you showed me the ropes(figuratively) with us each having like 6-7 girls taking turns riding us cowgirl style. For some reason you were squirting jizz like… Read more »

I miss the old “Dracula’s mansion” style manion intro music than the current one.

I notice that they’re doing a 2018 Tomb Raider movie but without Angelina Jolie.

Both times you’ve mentioned how the next movie wasn’t based specifically on a game, but is about games, I thought you’d be doing The Wizard.

If “Jim livetweets someone something only tangentially related to the review” becomes a regular feature of the podcast, you won’t hear me complaining.

Yea I remember all the ads for this as a kid and never hearing about about it ever again. Like Prince of Persia, it wasn’t an insult to the legacy but could be skipped and not be missed.

Still sounds like one of the better video game movies out there. But that’s not saying much.

This was one of the most erotic episodes yet. 😉 All of the sexy talk…mmmmmmm <3

Anyway though. I was actually wondering about Tron and weather or not it was on the table. Good to know that it is, since it's (in my opinion) a classic for what it achieved.

You know I KNOW I’ve watched this… but I literally don’t remember a single thing about the film. I thinking when I listen to the podcast I’ll just sit there like “all that happened? Really?”

Never cared for this movie myself so didn’t get around to watching it when it came out, but I am entirely unsurprised to find that Tomb Raider is pretty much exactly what I imagined it would be as a film. It feels from the description almost as if it’s the template for the modern generic videogame action movie (minus the lazy performances) though I am not sure if it actually was the first definitive example. But hot piss the next one coming up, well, the theme tune immediately started playing in my head when it was mentioned. That is definitely… Read more »
