I think using Scrooge McDuck, to represent AAA greed is unjust. He might be bit of a prick, but he every dollar he has, he earned with his hard work.

Contrast thisbehaviour with truly free extra content, from games like Slime-san, Terraria, Stardew valley, Starward Rogue, etc…

All those optional extras and they didn’t charge a dime!

Hmm, pre-ordering stuff befre the company has designed how it’s going to work…

…have you heard of Star Citizen – they’ve been doing it for 6 years.

Maybe you did because this week they tried (and failed because of the outrage) to make the people who have given them 192 million dollars pay 20 dollars to watch Citizencon, which is basically a big advert.

I said this years ago: AAA games publishers will be looking at Star Citizen for a playbook, for a list of ways to fuck consumers.

In good news, any fears of algorithmic burial are unfounded, it’s been happily sitting at the top of my subscriptions list as well as being #1 on my recommendations every time I reload the front page of youtube for the last 35 minutes.
Maybe you just don’t say fuck enough any more?

Ubisoft have noticed how lucrative stash tabs are. I’ve happily handed over cash to Grinding Gear for all sorts of fancy tabs and pages in Path of Exile.

But Path of Exile is free.

Actual free though.
